Who we are
The criminal justice system, like all large systems in the United States, operates from a foundation of individualism. All responsibility is placed on the individual for their actions with no thought given to the structures which led to contact with law enforcement.
This project will attempt to address the systemic factors that lead to involvement with the criminal justice system. Composed of lawyers, social service providers, and — most importantly — individuals with experience going through the criminal justice system themselves, the tools used will not be limited to litigation, but will instead combine legal and non-legal strategies to focus public safety mechanisms on approaches that address the root cause of interpersonal harm.
